MANAIA BAPTIST CAMP
Drive towards Whangarei Heads until McLeods Bay Store, drive 1.5kms further, then on the right is McDonald Road, (about 34km from Whangarei). The camp is through the gates at the end of McDonald Rd.
NUMBER PERMITTED IN CAMP: 75 people.
CAMP RULES:
1. No writing on or sticking things on walls, use notice board.
2. No smoking in any of the camp buildings.
3. No alcohol on the camp property.
4. Due respect to be given to neighbours and neighbouring property.
5. No trees or shrubs to be removed or damaged.
6. No Fires.
7. Any damage or breakages must be paid for or otherwise
made good (including painting over graffiti).
8. Buildings and grounds must be left clean and tidy.
9. Vehicles to be parked on camp property not on McDonald Rd.
10. Quietness required after 10 pm.
11. Rocks must not be removed i.e. thrown, from sea walls.
KITCHEN EQUIPMENT:
REFRIGERATION:
There is an upright freezer and a large walk-in chiller in the Hall kitchen. At the conclusion of your camp, please ensure you have emptied the freezer -wiped it out and made sure it is clean.
RUBBISH BAGS:
Please bring your own supply of rubbish bags or buy council bags at Parua Bay store. Secure all bags well. Rubbish bags & recycling must be removed by you. There is a rubbish cupboard provided at the back of the hall (only to store bags in while your camp is in progress). Rubbish & recycling can be dropped off at the Whangarei Re-sort at 201 Kioreroa Rd. Open daily 7.30am to 5.00pm weekdays and 8.30am to 4.30pm weekends.
SMOKE SCREEN DOORS: These should be kept closed at night and on leaving.
FIRE HOSES AND ALARMS:
Are provided for emergency and should not be tampered with. The Fire Dept stipulates each camp must elect a Fire Officer who must instruct the campers in fire drill.
FIRST AID KIT: Each group should bring its own first aid kit.
NO DOGS ALLOWED:
ALCOHOL: Please, no alcohol on the camp property at all.

Before arrival at camp - PLEASE INSTRUCT your group in the following:
EMERGENCY LIGHTING:
The switch for this is above the cool room door in the Hall kitchen and should be on during the camp. The emergency lights will automatically come on in the event of a power failure, but applies only to the Hall building. They will last for about two hours. The lights associated with this system should NEVER be removed and used in the normal system, as they are only 24 volts, while the normal is 230 volts! Spare bulbs for the normal light system (230v) are kept in the pantry.
HEATING: There is no heating provided in Cottrell Hall or the Lodges. There is a heat pump in the lounge of Jensen House. In cold weather you may like to take a few small heaters with you.
BOAT LAUNCHING: Little Munro Bay is the closest place to launch a boat. There are ramps at Reotahi and Urqharts Bay.
WASHING MACHINE & DRYER:
These are situated at the back of the hall and are available for all groups to use. There is a $2 per hour charge for the dryer.
KEYS & DEPARTURE INSPECTION:
Keys are in key safe boxes outside each unit. The codes for these will be sent to you in your confirmation email. After you have unlocked, please immediately put those keys back in the key safe, and use the keys that are hanging on the fridge door. Then remember to leave those keys hanging back on the fridge door when you leave.
CHARGES:
Contact (09) 438 3948 Ext 2 for the current charges. A deposit will be required when you make a booking, which will be deducted from your account if everything is left in good order. The deposit will be retained if your camp is cancelled within the 4 weeks prior to your booking.

- Cottrell Hall has 2 commercial electric stoves and a sterilizer which is used to sterilize dishes.
- Pots - There are large and small dixies, domestic pots, roasting dishes, bowls and teapots and a hot water zip.
- Jensen House & Lodges have domestic electric stoves.
- Each facility has a microwave
- Cutlery & Crockery – available in each kitchen.
- Utensils - serving spoons, egg beaters, sieves, graters etc. are provided.
- Cleaning Equipment - Dishmops, brushes, brooms, available. vacuum cleaners provided in Jensen & Hall.
- Bring your own detergent, pot mits, dish cloths, tea towels, toilet paper and rags for cleaning up on day of departure.
- There is a BBQ at the Hall, but none at Jensen or the lodges. Please bring your own gas bottle. The BBQ has a universal connection.

- It is important that we retain good relationships with the neighbors and that they are treated with due respect.
- The adjoining farm is NOT to be walked across. Access to Castle Rock can be made at low tide easily but at high tide please keep outside the fence lines.
- The neighbors driveway to the beach is not for campers use.
- Please instruct your campers not to throw rocks OFF the rock wall on the beach. It has been built over many years to encourage sand onto our beach. We would be happy if they put rocks ON it.

- Empty vacuum cleaners before and after use.
- Clean stoves and in ovens.
- Check for damages and lost property.
